To facilitate the monastic Buddhist monks in every possible way to revive and establish Buddha’s doctrine in the country.
Why are we doing this?
It’s crystal clear that the men who have just become Buddhist Bhikkus in saffron robe only have been unable to bring about spiritual consolation that the emotionally stranded people require.This void has been made an advantage by interested parties to convert the people in unethical way into other theological religions
What have we done?
a. While we are disciplined as a Buddhist organization, a great deal of things have been done by us for the sake of “Buddha Sasana” (Buddhist Dispensation) in the country since 1993; but we came up as an organization soon after most ven. Gangodawila Soma thera’s untimely death on 26th of December 2003.
b. Following are a few of lot of things that we have done,
i. Visiting ruined Buddhist monasteries in the thick forest and very rural areas in the country and re-construct them for a dwelling atmosphere appropriate to lead a monastic life for Buddhist Bhikkus;
• Providing water for monasteries
• Building up “kuttis” (abode of Bhikkus in forests)
ii. Donating “Thripitaka” (Buddhist Cannon) to make the Bhikkus more versed in Dhamma (Buddhist doctrine).
iii. Establishing Buddhist Public Libraries for the people in rural villages in the country.
iv. Constructing houses for the very poor people in the country.
v. Helping the sick and destitute in numerous ways.
vi. Treating the sick animals and rescue them from death.
Things we hope to do.
a. To construct a meditation centre at the foot of Knuckles range (foundation is laid out)
b. To construct new hermitages in the east for the benefit of Buddhists who have not left their lands in presence of LTTE attacks (locations are marked out)
c. To renovate ruined monastery complex abandoned for centuries in the border of Vilpaththu sanctuary.
d. To continue establishing Buddhist Public libraries in the areas of rustic locations in the country and offering Thripitaka for Bhiikus to make them more aware of Dhamma.
